We are making use of this enforced "time-out" to move our website to a platform operated by Making Music, the umbrella organisation to which we belong. We believe that this will be a much better solution for us. If there are problems during the transition phase, please bear with us. If you need to contact someone, please email tickets@amershamconcerts.org.uk or phone 01494 765420.
We would like to invite you to become a member of the Concert Club so that you can receive information directly from us about our concerts and other musical events.
You can find a form >here<.
Music has been a source of comfort and inspiration to many during lockdown and we hope that will continue in the future.
Looking back to 2019 our 53rd season got off to a flying start and our move back to Amersham, to the Free Church on Woodside Road, a very central location with plenty of parking and good access, proved very popular.
Our superb opening concert on 21st September 2019 was given by the Piatti Quartet. Their programme began and ended with great string quartets by Debussy and Beethoven. In between, they played a piece commissioned by them from the English composer Mark-Anthony Turnage. This was only its second UK performance having received its premiere at the Wigmore Hall this Spring, so we were in a very privileged position, hearing it so soon after. A review of the concert can be found >here<.
Full details of the season can be found on the 2019/2020 programme page, with "Mozart: Man and Music, a portrait in words and music" from the English Piano Trio and Friends in October, the National Youth Jazz Orchestra Ambassadors sextet in November, Pelleas Ensemble playing music for flute, harp and viola in February though the piano recital in March had to be cancelled due to the Covid.
Our concerts are an opportunity to hear current and future stars in an informal atmosphere. Often the musicians talk about the music they are going to play and there can be opportunities to meet and chat with them. We have enjoyed welcoming you during the 2019 /2020 season. Everyone is very welcome, including children, and you do not have to join the Club to come to a concert.
Concerts usually start at 7.30 pm and end around 9.30 pm.
The Club is a registered charity, number 1048911, and is run entirely by volunteers. We are funded by ticket sales and donations.
